Bear and Lampshade is Rob Neubauer (Synthesizers/Drum
Machines/Sampling/Guitar/Bass), Mike Smith (Vocals, Impressions,
Props, Dance), and Todd Johnston (Vocals, Bent Electronics, Turntable,
Fuzz) playing a style of avant-garde new wave pop influenced by
everything from film scores to experimental electronica and punk rock.
The group formed to be able to experiment with audio without the
intention of fitting in with certain scenes, while still attempting to
create a consumable product. Live performances borrow from the
members' theater backgrounds to make them more than just musical
experiences. They play everything from any type of concert festival to
bar mitzvahs.

Thrillsville
Thrillsville is a 3 piece band staring: Robb Pearsall on guitar and vocals, Mike
Simons on bass, and Ted Staley on drums and backing vocals. A few of our
influences are The Cramps, The Ventures, and Link Wray. Song samples at:
Duc D'Angelos Quartet--Baltimore-based electro-acoustic improvisation
group features Cey Jo-Jo: guitar, loops / DyNameks: turntable, drum
machine, laptop, loop station / SirRoland: guitar synth, filters / The
Voyeuristic Fringe: analog-modular and electro-mechanical synths. The
quartet describes itself thus: "The whole of Duc D'Angelos is greater than
the sum of its parts; each component may influence other components in a
web of incentives, constraints and connections. The slightest change in one
part causes tremors everywher else. The group is dedicated to the idea of
non-linear performance. It is music. It is musical form of sound ans
silence over time but there is no utilitarianism in their approach. They are
not useful. They create for themselves, in the moment, without
premeditation. it is decor . It is graffiti via device.

Dave Vosh, Frank Vanaman & Chris Videl
Dave Vosh has been experimenting with electronic music since the
1970s and live performance since 2005 in various solo, duo and trio
projects involving modular synthesizers and other devices.
Frank Vanaman can usually be found playing popular tunes of the
1920s and 1930s. His presence here is something of an anomaly.
Chris Videll plays electroacoustic drone under the name Tag Cloud,
incorporating analog electronics, loops, fx, gongs, and more.
Perhaps best described by DCist as "hazy ambience." Of one of his
tracks on the Front & Follow label's recent remix project "14
Versions of the Same EP," the Wire said "… TagCloud’s 2v13...at the
start has all the solemn beauty of a stained glass window, but ends
in a stormy rumble of distortion." Currently also working with Dave
Vosh and Keith Sinzinger (Fast Forty) as Safe Fast & Effective.
Bev Stanton was born in the Bahamas and raised near Walt Disney World. Stanton
has gained recognition as a "remix master" (Washington Post) for deconstructing
DC artists such as folksinger Lisa Moscatiello. Her solo material, which combines
the quirkiness of Bjork, and the ennui of Moby, has won over a dozen Washington
Area Music Awards (WAMMIES) in the Electronica category.
Her music has appeared in shows on the Discovery Channel, VH1, MTV and other
cable television networks. Stanton is one of 24 female electronic artists and
deejays profiled in Pink Noises: Women in Electronic Music and Sound (Tara
Rodgers; Duke University Press, 2010), alongside DJ Rekha and Le Tigre. Ever
embracing new technologies, Stanton's recently released a 30-minute download EP
influenced and created with iPhone applications.

Keith Sinzinger (Fast Forty) combines home-built instruments, circuit-bent devices,
found sounds and miscellaneous junk to create what he calls Intense Ambient. A
lifelong newsman based in Washington, D.C., he records at District of Chaos Studios
and has performed at shows sponsored by Sonic Circuits, Electric Possible and the
Baltimore SDIY Group, among others.
Recently relocated to the Washington D.C., area, Ryan Jordan is a
multi-instrumentalist whose musical influences encompass the nuances of third
stream jazz and contemporary classical music. He is currently working as a
freelance composer/arranger and continues to perform in a variety of groups
encompassing jazz, free improvisation and solo electronics.

Patrick Rife has long been engaged in the act of manipulating
sounds; via song-writing, textural extractions, soundscapes,
sample appropriation etc. Patrick's focus is on creating beautiful
sonic environments that transport the listener to places
unexpected. His work often employs samples ranging from
sounds of war to sounds of whales to sounds of babes or sounds
of hail and more often than not varies dramatically.

From Manila to Arizona, now in Baltimore! The name micFreak was never really intended
to be used as an artist name. It was an email address that mic used as an alias in joining
egroups. Music runs in mic's blood. He started learning the violin at 8, the piano at 12
but wasn't that happy in playing traditional music. He learned to play the guitar, bass and
keyboard during his high school years and joined several new wave bands. His college
years was a different trip, he joined an r&b band and played keyboards. Playing other
artists songs wasn't mic's calling so he started searching for a new musical direction
and eventually found a road that lead to electronica after watching the movie "The
Saint" with Val Kilmer which featured the Chemical Brothers' track "The Setting Sun".
Listening to artists like OMD, Depche Mode and New Order in his teens, mic easily
understood how electronic music could be produced so he bought a pc and learned about
MIDI w/ Cakewalk V6. Years later he has developed his own sound fusing melody and
harmony with a strong sense of rhythm. Now focusing on dance music micFreak is ready
to conquer a new genre of electronic music that would surely be one of a kind. Read
